The sodium in this product is a combination of sodium naturally occuring in the foods/ingredients and the sodium from salt used to impact the taste.

This meal delivers less than 500 mg of sodiumper serving, which is less than 1/4 of your maximum recommended daily intake. Read the nutrition information on your labels to help you stay within your limits.

According to MyPlate.gov, sodium is an essential nutrient needed in small amounts. It is important for many body processes, including muscle contraction.  That said, most Americans exceed the recommended limits for sodium in the diet, and sodium is a nutrient to get less of.

Salt is an important ingredient in the manufacturing of many types of cheese, but we work with cheese makers to give you cheeses with great taste and limited salt wherever possible.
Cheese is found in the dairy food group. Did you know that 3/4 ounce of hard cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella, swiss, parmesan) or 1 ounce of processed cheese (e.g., American) is equivalent to 1/2 cup of milk?

Carrageenan is a naturally-occurring compound found in red seaweed that is used to thicken products or to stabilize texture.  Carrageenan has been used safely and successfully for centuries. To reassure the public on its safety, it has been reviewed by many regulatory authorities and subjected to many biological and toxicological tests and has been found to be safe for consumption.
, Chicken Flavor (Dried Chicken Broth, Chicken Powder, Natural Flavor), Whey Protein ConcentrateWhey Protein Concentrate

Whey is one of two proteins found in milk. The other is casein. Whey protein concentrate is a form of whey from which the lactose, minerals and water have been removed. It contains low levels of fat and carbohydrates and 30 to 90 percent protein. It is used as an emulsifier to blend oil- and water-based ingredients, as a thickening agent and to boost protein content in foods. This ingredient is considered by the USDA or FDA to be safe for this intended use.
, Corn Syrup Solids, Sodium Phosphate, Yeast, Maltodextrin, Spices, Fructose, Autolyzed Yeast ExtractAutolyzed Yeast Extract

Autolyzed yeast extract results from the breakdown of yeast cells to release amino acids, salts and carbohydrates. It provides a “meaty” flavor to foods and is often mixed in with seasonings in snack foods, stocks and broths. Because autolyzed yeast extract contains free glutamic acid, those who are sensitive to monosodium glutamate or MSG  should look for the yeast extract on the label. Autolyzed yeast extract is considered by the USDA or FDA to be safe for this intended use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two different directions Ok so I followed the instructions on the box and ended up like another review with a frozen meal. Well I decided to look up online what the directions were and found out these instructions on the site are completely different from on the box. If it's cooked like on the site it turns out great. If you follow the box instructions you end up with it still frozen in places. I took off one star due this. Please update your box instructions so consumers are cooking it properly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Grandma would be thoroughly disappointed. My hubby & I recently purchased this meal in the 'family size' (this size makes 2 meals for us) a few days ago at our local walmart. It promptly went in the freezer until tonight when I decided to make a warm casserole for our rainy Sunday evening meal. I opened the untampered box to the plastic film already being cut off the dish, barely held on by one side of plastic. Thie directions say 'do not vent', so I did the only thing I could & covered it with foil. I baked it as directed to be sure it was cooked completely, but when it came time to dish up plates, it was still FROZEN in the center, & full of water around the sides. I decided not to give up & placed it back in the oven for a bit (watching closely) to see if that would help (mind you, this dish ALREADY cooked for 90 minutes, which is ridiculous for a frozen meal), it wound up having to be in the oven for over 30 extra minutes--meaning this dish took over 2 hours to make. The topping wasn't crunchy, the rice was nothing but mush, the chicken (what little there was) was rubbery and hard to chew, & there were pretty much no veggies in it. I had to make broccoli to put in the bowls with it so there would be SOME sort of veggie component to our meal. The overall flavour of the dish was like extremely watered down chicken broth & nothing, the 'rich cheese sauce' didn't even taste of cheese at all. After forcing myself to eat half a portion (because we had to eat SOMETHING for dinner, & I was too exauhsted to cook anything else), I was left with a terrible aftertaste & stomach issues. For a product that costs over $11, from a company that supposedly prides themselves on their dish flavours, affordableness, & convenience--my family has been repeatedly let down by this brand. This dish is yet another to chalk up to the already long list of this company's products we will no longer purchase. Grandma's name is on the box, but I'm pretty sure she'd be disappointed to see what's been done to her recipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious Didn’t know what to expect thought it would taste very artificial. Luckily it didn’t it taste like a real home cooked meal. Think I like it better than the lasagna.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husband and I really enjoy this This dish has down home taste. The chicken pieces taste like fresh chunks of chicken. The sauce is like a chicken broth sauce you’d find inside a pot pie. It might be salty for some but we like it. It has plenty of flavor. The rice is cooked to perfection. There are a few peas and carrots. The family size feeds two very hungry adults that are not eating anything besides the entree. It could probably fill three people with smaller appetites. The microwave prep is easier than most because you don’t have to stop midway and stir. All you do is cook on high 14 minutes then pull off the plastic and cook two more minutes. You don’t even have to pierce the plastic before you start cooking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Taste Family Loves So thankful to have this on hand. I would long hours and someone when we get home I’m too tired to cook. This is great to make fast and my family loves it. They normally complain about this type of meal but they love this one and don’t complain when I make.
