Sodium

Per the FDA, the maximum daily recommended intake of sodium for adults and children 4 years and olderis 2300 mg per day.

The sodium in this product is a combination of sodium naturally occuring in the foods/ingredients and the sodium from salt used to impact the taste.

The daily intake of sodium for adults and children 4 and older can be found in approximately 1 tablespoon of salt (i.e., sodium chloride). Read the nutrition information on your food labels to help you stay within your limits.

This meal delivers less than 500 mg of sodiumper serving, which is less than 1/4 of your maximum recommended daily intake. Read the nutrition information on your labels to help you stay within your limits.

According to MyPlate.gov, sodium is an essential nutrient needed in small amounts. It is important for many body processes, including muscle contraction.  That said, most Americans exceed the recommended limits for sodium in the diet, and sodium is a nutrient to get less of.

Salt is an important ingredient in the manufacturing of many types of cheese, but we work with cheese makers to give you cheeses with great taste and limited salt wherever possible.
Cheese is found in the dairy food group. Did you know that 3/4 ounce of hard cheese (e.g., cheddar, mozzarella, swiss, parmesan) or 1 ounce of processed cheese (e.g., American) is equivalent to 1/2 cup of milk?

Carrageenan is a naturally-occurring compound found in red seaweed that is used to thicken products or to stabilize texture.  Carrageenan has been used safely and successfully for centuries. To reassure the public on its safety, it has been reviewed by many regulatory authorities and subjected to many biological and toxicological tests and has been found to be safe for consumption.
, Chicken Flavor (Dried Chicken Broth, Chicken Powder, Natural Flavor), Whey Protein ConcentrateWhey Protein Concentrate

Whey is one of two proteins found in milk. The other is casein. Whey protein concentrate is a form of whey from which the lactose, minerals and water have been removed. It contains low levels of fat and carbohydrates and 30 to 90 percent protein. It is used as an emulsifier to blend oil- and water-based ingredients, as a thickening agent and to boost protein content in foods. This ingredient is considered by the USDA or FDA to be safe for this intended use.

Because autolyzed yeast extract contains free glutamic acid, those who are sensitive to monosodium glutamate or MSG  should look for the yeast extract on the label. Ratings & Reviews

Grandma's Chicken & Vegetable Rice Bake is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family Favorite! This is one of our "go to" meals... we eat this about once per week! It is quick and easy, and has that home cooked taste that my family loves. When I am in a rush, I put it in the microwave for about 5 minutes, then finish it up in the oven for that crispy baked goodness that we all love! I have recommended this to many other "on the go" families, and they all love it too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite This is my favorite Stouffers meal. Always have one or two in the freezer. Full of tender flavorful chicken. One of the best frozen meals available.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New improved recipe ruined it I have loved this since I first discovered it. The flavor was so good you wanted to lick the plate so as not to miss a drop of the sauce. But since the change from red to brown boxes, it leaves a nasty aftertaste that I can't stand. Sorry to have to give it up, as this was one of my go-to dishes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious I bought 2 of these at Walmart on Friday. Just cooked one in the oven and really like it. I got the large size classics. Chicken is tender and juicy, rice is tender and has good flavor. I did add a couple dashes of soy sauce, and a little salt. I like the quality I get from Stouffer's, thanks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Definitely Not Good Anymore As It Once Was! I always used to love this kind but lately every single piece of chicken in this is rubbery and fatty and has a weird taste!!! Also a lot of times they put too much cream sauce in it and it's like eating a bowl of fatty rubbery chicken and rice soup! Lastly sometimes they put hardly no bread crumbs on top or sometimes they put too much and ruins the meal and it's like eating a bowl of stuffing mix!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Almost no vegetables or cheese taste; Very disappointed. Such a tiny portion of vegetables. Thought it would be like a casserole with everything you needed for a meal. Not enough vegetables to even count as a serving for 1 person. Could not taste much of any cheese. Thought it would be cheesy like a mac & cheese.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible! Rubber Chicken & Mushy rice Not sure who has a Grandma that would make such an awful meal!? Every piece of chicken was like rubber with gristle in it. Even my cat would not eat the chicken! Rice was mushy and looked like thick soup. Perhaps something you feed a person with no teeth. They should not use the word Grandma in their description, it is offensive to Grandma's who are great cooks! Very disappointing, as Stouffers usually produces good products!
